Who doesn’t love a good comedy? If you’re looking for something new to watch, check out this list of what I think are the best comedies currently on Amazon Prime. The list includes both tv shows and movies!
Catastrophe
Warning: This show is definitely for adults only!
Two strangers have a short-lived romantic relationship thinking that it will go nowhere despite the fact that they get along quite well. However, when an unexpected pregnancy occurs, they decide to try and be a family.
The sarcastic banter of this show will make your ribs hurt because you’ll be laughing so hard.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
It’s 1958 and Midge is exactly what she always thought she would be – a housewife and mother. She spends her days making sure that everything is perfect for her husband who, despite his inability to write jokes, wants to be a comedian.
When her seemingly perfect life blows up when her husband announces that he’s leaving her for his secretary, Midge lets loose and finds herself on stage at a local comedy club. From there, her life changes in ways that she never imagined, with her cracking jokes at every turn. You’ll have to pay attention – this show is rapid fire and never takes a break!
Destination Wedding
This movie is drastically underrated! Starring Keanu Reeves and Winona Rider, the two play singles who happen to meet at… you guessed it… a destination wedding!
Both play incredibly quirky individuals who are discontent with their situation – and who don’t immediately enjoy each others company. Their continual banter and ongoing commentary about the events going on around them is priceless. You won’t regret putting this on your watchlist!
Death At A Funeral
Set in the British countryside, this movie is sure to entertain as family secrets are revealed during a family funeral.
Monk
Mr. Monk was once one of the top detectives in the country – but now he’s a little lost. Unable to solve his wife’s murder, Monk also struggles with anxiety and has numerous quirks that make his daily interactions hilarious.
Working through his issues Monk takes on case after case, solving crimes and making viewers laugh each step of the way.
I Love Lucy
This might be an “oldie” but it’s a goodie!
It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve seen an episode of “I Love Lucy” – it’s always enjoyable! Watching Lucy create the most awkward situations out of everyday life is hilarious and her supporting cast, including her husband, Ricky, and neighbors Ethel and Fred, are delightful.
The Addams Family
Uncle Lester, Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday… just a few of the characters that are household names and who have continued to capture the attention of viewers around the globe for decades. Check out the original series on Amazon Prime Video where you’ll get to see where it all started!
Honorable Mention: Good Omens
